Disaster Recovery. - Are you prepared for the worse?

In light of some of the recent events, (earthquake in Seattle, snow storms on the East Coast, tornadoes in the south) there has been a lot of talk about Disaster Recovery lately. You see it in the trade magazines and e-mail newsletters, even in my office, where we recently reviewed the IT staffs duties as part of disaster Recovery teams should we have to vacate the building due to whatever.

Now obviously, there is more to Disaster Recovery than just moving to a different location. It’s an on going daily process of running and verifying backups, transferring those backup tapes to an offsite location, virus and intrusion detection and prevention, and computer room security. Plus just good common sense, thinking a little, and having funding available to perform these task.
