Hmmm still not sure - getting started in it

So I've read the messages and now I really don't know what to do. I had intended on getting certified and using that as a starting point but then I'll be known a a paper whatever!

I actually would like to work in web design and in programming but now I am totally confused. What would the best courses be for me and within that field would I still be known as a paper thingymabob or would I be able to gain a job.

In terms of experience I ran a small network in a school for just over a year and completed the RM NT4 Connect Network Management course.

I also have many skills in use of microsoft office packages plus a few courses that I went on relating to these programmes.

I was also looking to complete the studying whilst going travelling during my stay in Asia as I've heard they are good instructors there and it is cheaper. From there I was hoping to gain experience when I arrived in Australia. So that when I returned to England I could gain full time employment in my desired field.
