Error Codes... - low level codes

i do internet support for a company that stores online photo albums. our members can upload their images (http) to our website and into their private accounts. members frequently have various problems, alot which we solve immediately. i just wanted to know...or get some input as to the best way to go about troubleshooting errors codes that are being received on the userend..example of such codes are:

error code 4 low level 10060
error code 10 low level 500

we tipically see all sort of combonations of these codes...whats the best method to troubleshoot these errors..especially phone support methods...

any advise, experience, help links, etc...would be very much appreciated...
