Setting up network records - Record keeping

I am currently an Accounts Payable Manager for a commercial flooring contractor. I have also become the "unofficial" Network administrator for our Windows 2000 network. We have 1 Windows 2000 Server and 20 client machines. I have just started studying for my A+ Certification. As I am setting up the administrative duties on this network, I would appreciate any help connected with record keeping as far as hardware, software and maintenance goes.

Any help would be appreciated.
