Computer Science? - college degree

Does anyone know what exact a college degree in "computer science" covers? I know it probably varies from college to college but whats the basics of it?

Does it include computer programing or IT certifications?

Hard to find clearly defined definitions of all the degrees, so its hard to choose which to go into; theres computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, management information systems, computer information systems and information technology.
