When to use Cache/Online/Offline Mode?
I have to this exchange practice question which I can't figure out.
Q. You have just installed Exchange 2003 in your company and it is now time to configure Outlook for the employees. Some employees have a desktop computer connected to your LAN. Other employees have a laptop that they typically take home at night. These employees also have a VPN connection from home and can pick up mail from there. However, some of these employees have a high speed connection, while others have dial-up. Reliability is always an issue through the VPN connection. Which modes should you configure the Outlook clients?
1) Outlook on the desktops should be configured as Cached mode, Outlook on the laptops should be configured as Offline mode.
2) Outlook on the desktops should be configured as Online mode, Outlook on the laptops should be configured as Offline mode.
3) Outlook on the desktops should be configured as Online mode, Outlook on the laptops should be configured as Cached mode.
4) Outlook on the desktops should be configured as Cached mode, Outlook on the laptops should be configured as Cached mode.
I am split between answer 1 and 2. Offline mode is usually used when there's a dial up or VPN connection. Using Cache Mode or Online Mode doesn't effect the user if the desktop computer is connect by a LAN connection. |
