MS Press 70-291 Practice Exercises

I'm moving along nice and understanding every bit of this book. I have however run in to the chapter entitled "Routing With Windows Server 2003". This is by far the most confusing chapter for me. One thing that helped me easily pass the 70-290 was the practice exercises they give. It's one thing to read it, but for me to get the hands on experience makes me understand that much more. On this chapter, every practice requires a dial up modem because all the practices evolve around demand dialing, setting a nat server with a demand dial modem, etc. I don't have a modem, so all these exercises have gone to waste. I guess my main question is on 291 are they giving scenarios in where people still use dial up modems???
