Errors in A+ Core Hardware (220-301) practice exam

I just took the practice exam (got an 80%), and some of the answers I was reviewing bothered me:

Which of the following could possibly transmit a virus to your computer? (Select all that apply)

1. Borrowing a floppy disk from someone else
2. A brand new CD still in the shrink wrap
3. Downloading files from the Internet
4. Sneezing while using your computer
Correct answer(s): 1 3

It is well known that CD/DVD distributors occasionally get infected by a virus and all the discs they print are infected. I have read specific documented cases, this answer set for this question needs to be changed to be completely accurate

What is the throughput of an AGP 8x video card?

1. 133 MBps
2. 264 MBps
3. 533 MBps
4. 2.1 GBps
5. 1.0 GBps
Correct answer(s): 4
Explanation: AGP 8x has a width of 64-bit and supports throughput up to 2.1 GBps. [Installation, Configuration, and Upgrading]

The answer isn't wrong, but the explanation is. AGP 8x is a 32 bit bus, as quoted from manufacturers of AGP 8x cards, such as ATI. Question ID number 2080 goes on to say AGP is a 32 bit interface, proving my point. Of course, 64 bit AGP does exist, but one thing I've learned from several practice exams is don't assume anything more than the question specifically says.

Possible error, I couldn't figure out how the given answer had anything to do with the question that was asked

You have a serial scanner connected to your computer configured to use COM3. It is turned on. Your modem is using COM1 and you can't dial out. What is most likely causing the problem?

1. You have a conflict with IRQ 12
2. You have an I/O conflict
3. You have a conflict with IRQ 4
4. You have a loose connection
Correct answer(s): 3
Explanation: [Diagnosing and Troubleshooting]

The way I understand it, the IRQ 1/3 can't possibly have an IRQ conflict with IRQ 2/4. I'm guessing they probably mistyped the answer.

Which of the following is the most difficult virus to remove from a computer?

1. CMOS virus
2. Memory virus
3. FAT virus
4. Boot Sector virus
Correct answer(s): 1
Explanation: [Diagnosing and Troubleshooting]

This question is misleading. Viruses can't run from CMOS, and even if stored there, couldn't be loaded to memory to be run unless a seperate virus were to do so. I researched and learned that what they are probably referring to (the AntiCMOS virus): it infects the Boot Sector of drives, and thus is started when the OS is loaded. I chose answer #4, knowing up front that viruses can't be run from CMOS. MCMCSE should evaluate whether this question needs to be modified/reviewed.

How many pins can a DIMM module have?

1. 30
2. 72
3. 168
4. 200
5. 184
6. 144
Correct answer(s): 2 3 4 5 6

Explanation: DDR DIMMs have 184 pins compared to 168-pins for SDRAM DIMMs. DDR SO-DIMMs have 200 pins compared to 144 pins or 72 pins for SDRAM SO-DIMMs. [Motherboard/Processors/Memory]

I will use (QID=1994) to prove my point: "When using SCSI devices on your PC, how many can be connected in a chain including the host adapter?" The answer given by MCMCSE was 8. From this point on I decided that when they said SCSI, they meant the original SCSI and not variants, such as Wide SCSI. So when they state "DIMM" in this question, they should not include variants of DIMM (in this case SO-DIMM) in the answer, because they are biasing some questions, which makes for a less accurate test. MCMCSE should consider rewriting this question or several other questions.

I am not the biggest expert out there, but I did research these answers before coming here to suggest that some were wrong. If I happen to be wrong, please provide the documentation to refute me.
