Sair Linux Certification?????????????
Greetings all,
2 or 3 years back SAIR LINUX cert was gaining popularity as THE vendor neutral cert. At that time I had purchased 3 books on SAIR Install and Config exam (one book focused on more than one exam); it was a pretty big investment and I still have those books and practice exams.
Right now I'm still wondering if I should go for that cert. I've heard a lot of negative things about it though. A person who used to work at SAIR told me that its in very bad shape and the founder of it is not even involved in it no more and there are very few staff members, although the web site, still promotes it as being constantly developed.
I live in Thailand where an exam in US dollars is just crazily expensive, especially Comptias exams. LPI requires two exams before giving out a cert. SAIR just needs one exam to give out the LCP cert. I had taken it two years back and failed it although back then I had very limited knowledge of LINUX. Right now I have about 4 - 6 months experience on LINUX on production / home networks. The cost of SAIR exam is expensive but compared to the others relatively inexpensive plus I dont have to invest in any materials.
But if the company is going down the drain why should I be a SAIR LCP right? Any insights? |
