Win2K, XP, .Net?

Hello,
I'm a career changer looking to go into IT. I've done extensive research for the past 6+ months and am leaning towards MCSA/MCSE cert- with A+ first as a foundation- with classes from a ctech such as New Horizons. I was wondering in Win2K is the way to go, or is XP or .Net the hotter skill(s) to learn? Is certification even available in the latter two? Also, what do I look for in a ctech? More questions forthcoming.
